Henry is teased at school because he is certain: YETIS EXIST. He decides to go on a quest for evidence (EVIDENCE?! … music to Librarians’ ears). His effort is fruitless; yet, a fantastical twist ending leaves Henry besting the naysayers.

Russell Ayto is a Kate Greenaway shortlisted British illustrator and author. He uses the entire page – after all, there is a YETI. The dreamy, muted – yet broad, background palette changes from page to page. Henry is simply drawn. He is a quirky, Dexter’s-Lab-looking, fellow. The cartoonish lettering throughout the book is similar to Hug Machine by Scott Campbell.

Henry and the Yeti is a love letter to the power of imagination in the face of adversity. Recommended for: elementary aged kiddos, lovers of mythical creatures, and anyone reading The Boy Who Cried Wolf.

A rhyming picture book that gives young kids an in-depth look at life on the farm. This isn’t your standard “cows go moo” book. It teaches the steps and vocabulary that most farm kids probably already know about how to bale hay. (Note: We are not farm kids, so this was incredibly informative!) Bonus points because the farmers are a mother and her daughter. Extra bonus points for the recipe for switchel at the end. We love a book with a recipe!
