I’m a Duck by Eve Bunting + a Giveaway!

Post written by Kate Olson ~ giveaway and review copy provided by Candlewick.

I was so excited to receive an early review copy of this book for Kid Lit Exchange from Candlewick! This picture book releases TODAY, March 13, 2018 and is already on my new picture book order list for my library because I loved it so much. The sweet rhyming text and the soft and adorable illustrations, along with the wonderful message about overcoming fears make this an excellent read aloud choice for toddlers through Grade 1.

More about the book…….and see below for the GIVEAWAY!

I cannot swim, and that is bad.
A landlocked duck is very sad.

One day, an egg rolled out of a nest and right into a deep pond. Now
that egg is a little duck, and the water is still very scary. Jumping into
the pond at all seems impossible, never mind swimming in a line
with all his brothers. “You’re a duck, and ducks don’t sink,” Big Frog
points out. Practicing in a puddle helps a little, while backrubs and
snacks from his mother help a little more. Big Frog offers to hold his
friend’s wing and dive in together, but our little duck knows that some
challenges need to be faced alone. Even when they are very scary!

  1. At some point in the school year I always share Bunting titles with my first graders in the school library. This newest title would make a perfect launch this spring!
